Warehouse Operations Manager
We are currently hiring a Warehouse Operations Manager, based out of our Rite-Pak Produce, Ontario Food Terminal Location. This position is to oversee and lead the Rite-Pak OFT warehouse operations ensuring effective; union relations, cost management, productivity, health & safety of workers and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Operations
- Manage the floor (upstairs/downstairs) to ensure cleanliness, tidiness and effective product flow, rotation, display, storage and distribution. – ensure you walk the floor, dock and farmers market
Union Relations:
- Manage relationships with union to create a productive and positive work environment – provide feedback and operational needs to Supervisor to assist with union negotiations – actively participate in grievance meetings and arbitrations
Team Management:
- Manage staff to ensure they are motivated and productive – partner with HR on management of performance issues, recruiting, coaching and training of employees, create and maintain a positive work environment
Communication
- Ensure effective communication within your department and with others to ensure alignment and strengthened productivity, internal relationships and staff management
Morale
- Drive and facilitate the company’s strategy to cultivate a fully engaged workforce
Inventory Management
- Manage and coordinate receiving at the market to ensure accuracy and efficient processes & procedures – manage rotation of product to assist sales team and limit dumps – investigate shorts/overs to trouble shoot issues and work to resolution – ensure quality on the floor at all times
Reporting & Administration
- Ensure accurate and detailed administration and reporting on all required documentation (H&S/HR/Grievances/Productivity/etc.)– acquire reports for tracking employees productivity on the front door
Customer Support
- Ensure customer satisfaction through professional behaviors of self and staff, effective product handling, and timely deliveries – maintain strong communication with Category Managers and sellers to ensure ability to deliver to the customer promise
Productivity
- Create/evolve existing P&P to increase efficiencies and productivity, eliminate non-value added tasks and reduce costs
Compliance
- Ensure full operational compliance with applicable environmental, governmental, company and regulatory rules and regulations to ensure a safe workplace for employees/customers, safe equipment and it’s operation and safe product – ensure inspection(s) and audit(s) pass status.
Cost Management:
- Manage schedules to maximize productivity, ensure adequate coverage and customer satisfaction – keep over time at zero- manage overhead costs to budgets
Any other duties as required
Qualifications:
- University Degree or Supply Chain Management Certification
- Strong background in the fresh produce distribution, warehousing or logistics businesses
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in warehousing/shipping/receiving
- Strong industry knowledge of health and safety rules and regulations
- Understanding of HACCP and implications on processes and procedures
- 3+ years’ experience with union and contract negotiations
- 5+ years’ experience managing others in a union environment
- Able to manage multiple priorities
- Strong interpersonal and influence skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Strong detail orientation and documentation skills
- Computer literacy in Microsoft suit products
- Familiarity with all types of produce and its quality
- Flexible and adaptive
- Strong Team Player
